Companies Offering Remote Language Editor Jobs in India (October 2022)

This post is in response to the following message that I received on LinkedIn:

Hi Anupam! I am looking for a role as Language Editor, remote. Please guide me if you know of any post.

I knew of only a handful of companies. To provide a better answer, I decided to ask my colleagues-at-large and members of the Indian Copyeditors Forum. They filled out this Google Form. It said:

I’m trying to compile a list of Indian companies that offer remote editorial work. Please add the name(s) and website (if known) of any company that comes to your mind. Please confirm that they offer REMOTE work. Both freelance and full time are fine.

At the time of writing this post, I had received 15 responses that included the following 19 names:

Usage notes

• I have not verified if these companies actually offer remote language editing work. So I cannot guarantee the veracity of this information. I received this information in October 2022 – it could change/become invalid with time. I have retrieved the website URLs through simple searches – fingers crossed that they aren’t wrong!
• I’m not sure how to contact these companies, but what I would do is go to their websites, find a contact number or email, and write/call them and ask to be connected to someone in their editorial or content or production teams. Or I would check out their careers/jobs section if they have one.
• Obviously, this is not a complete or exhaustive list of Indian organisations that offer remote editorial work. There would be many more. A simple search on LinkedIn Job Search with the keywords ‘freelance editing’ throws up dozens of opportunities—on-rolls and freelance, full-time and part-time, on-location and remote. Use the filters in various combinations. If you’re lucky, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for. I strongly recommend using this feature of LinkedIn.
